Kolkata Rape Case: The country’s President Draupadi Murmu has expressed strong displeasure over the rape and murder of a female doctor in Kolkata. During a media interview, President Murmu said that she is shocked and saddened by the incident of rape and murder of a female doctor in Kolkata.

No civilised society can allow such atrocities on daughters and sisters.” President Draupadi Murmu said, “While students, doctors and citizens are protesting in Kolkata, criminals are lurking elsewhere looking for victims. Now this is enough.” On crimes against women, President Murmu said, “Society needs to introspect with honesty, fairness. People have to ask themselves some tough questions. Often people with a hateful mindset consider women inferior to themselves. They see women as less powerful, less capable, less intelligent.”

After the Nirbhaya incident, society forgot countless incidents of rape

Draupadi Murmu said, “In the 12 years since the Nirbhaya incident, society has forgotten countless incidents of rape. This collective habit of forgetting is disgusting. Only a society that is afraid to face its history resorts to forgetting things.” On the need to face this perversion together, President Murmu said, “Now the time has come for India to face its history fully. We need to face this perversion together, so that it can be nipped in the bud.” The President said, “Let us deal with this perversion comprehensively to stop it at the very beginning.”
