Following a public disagreement, Elon Musk deleted a tweet that mentioned Donald Trump in connection with the Epstein files. The online clash began when Musk alleged that Trump’s inclusion in the files was the reason for their non-publication. Musk had recently stepped down from his role at the Department of Government Efficiency, citing a desire to focus on his business interests. The trigger for the feud appears to have been Musk’s dissatisfaction with Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill.’
Musk’s now-deleted tweet read, “Donald Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” Subsequent to the deletion, Musk seemed to signal a potential truce. Responding to a post by Bill Ackman, the fund manager who supported both Trump and Musk and advocated for peace, Musk agreed.
The disagreement unfolded amid debate over Trump’s ‘big, beautiful bill,’ involving significant tax cuts and increased military spending. The feud between the two prominent figures escalated, marked by sharp criticism and allegations on their respective social media platforms. Musk’s allegations about Trump’s connection with Jeffrey Epstein represented a significant escalation. The conflict intensified shortly after Musk’s departure from the Department of Government Efficiency.
In support of Trump, U.S. Vice President JD Vance posted on X, “President Trump has done more than any person in my lifetime to earn the trust of the movement he leads. I’m proud to stand beside him.”
