Donald Trump’s trade policies, particularly his imposition of tariffs, have sparked considerable debate worldwide. Economists and international observers have expressed concerns, with some seeing these measures as detrimental. Despite this, the former US President has maintained his stance, recently implementing a 50% tariff on Indian goods.
Professor Steve Hanke of Johns Hopkins University stated that Trump is engaging in a trade war with the rest of the world and is essentially “destroying himself” in the process. He called Trump’s 50% tariff on India “absolute nonsense,” suggesting it is unsustainable. Hanke advised India to remain patient, predicting the collapse of Trump’s economic strategy. China and Russia have also criticized Trump’s approach.
