Donald Trump’s trade policies, particularly his imposition of tariffs, have sparked considerable debate worldwide. Despite this, the former US President has maintained his stance, recently implementing a 50% tariff on Indian goods.
Professor Steve Hanke of Johns Hopkins University stated that Trump is engaging in a trade war with the rest of the world and is essentially “destroying himself” in the process. He called Trump’s 50% tariff on India “absolute nonsense,” suggesting it is unsustainable. Hanke advised India to remain patient, predicting the collapse of Trump’s economic strategy. China and Russia have also criticized Trump’s approach.
