Former President Donald Trump has alluded to a possible deal regarding the Gaza conflict, expressing confidence in its ability to secure the release of hostages and bring an end to the ongoing war. During a press interaction, Trump revealed that a deal concerning Gaza was in the works. He suggested that the agreement would likely facilitate the return of hostages and lead to the cessation of hostilities. However, Trump did not specify the terms of the deal, including the involvement of Israel and Palestine. While Trump provided no specifics, his statements implied that negotiations are proceeding towards a resolution. He asserted that the prospective deal would address the persistent conflict while ensuring the hostages’ return. “It’s looking like we have a deal on Gaza. I think it’s a deal that will get the hostages back. It’s gonna be a deal that will end the war,” Trump said. Simultaneously, relatives of individuals held hostage by Hamas protested outside the UN headquarters in New York, coinciding with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to the UN General Assembly. The protestors demanded the immediate release of their loved ones. A relative stated, “My message for the rest of the International community is, if you won’t wake up now and realise that radical Islamic youth are being pushed on you, you’re going to wake up and you’re going to be in the place that we are in right now… I am warning you to understand that if you don’t act now against Hamas, its proxies and all radical Islamic youth, you’re going to be next… 80% of the people of Israel, not just Prime Minister Netanyahu, want the war to end. We want them to be released. The only thing that matters is to bring them back. Everything else will be taken care of once that ends… We need to bring our soldiers back home. We need to stop the suffering and the cycle of death there that has been there for the past 2 years.”
