At a special UN Security Council session, Israel’s representative Danny Danon praised the US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities as a critical measure. He asserted that the strikes eliminated what he considered to be the “greatest existential threat to humanity.” Danon, addressing the session focused on threats to international peace and security, defended Operation Midnight Hammer. He challenged nations that criticized the US action, asking where they were during Iran’s uranium enrichment and alleged plotting against Israel. Danon claimed Iran used nuclear talks as a means to buy time while developing missiles and enriching uranium. He emphasized the devastating global impact if Iran had acquired nuclear weapons. These comments came amidst escalating regional conflict after the US-led strikes targeting Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. The IDF reported that about 20 IAF fighter jets conducted strikes on multiple sites in Iran based on intelligence. The targeted sites, according to the IDF, included missile storage, launch infrastructure, radar and satellite systems, and a surface-to-air missile launcher near Tehran. The IDF said the strikes aimed to diminish the Iranian regime’s military capabilities and protect Israeli civilians.
