The Chinese Ministry of National Defense has called for joint efforts with India to ensure the security and stability of their border regions. This announcement comes as India’s Prime Minister is scheduled to visit China in the near future. The statement was made by spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang during a press briefing that followed the 24th round of discussions between special representatives from both countries, focused on the ongoing border disputes. The talks resulted in a ten-point agreement, with both nations committing to use diplomatic and military channels to manage and control their shared border. Representing India at the discussions was NSA Ajit Doval. Zhang noted that the two sides engaged in frank and thorough discussions regarding the China-India border issues, demonstrating a positive and constructive approach that led to several agreements. The Doval-Wang meeting led to five significant outcomes, including forming an expert group under the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC) to accelerate progress in border demarcation.
