Nadia Baloch, the sister of detained Balochistan activist Mahrang Baloch, has accused the officials at Quetta’s Hudda Jail of harassing her family and obstructing legal proceedings. The family reported that during a scheduled visit, they were subjected to deliberate delays and intimidation. Nadia Baloch claimed that Superintendent Hameedullah Pechehi intentionally delayed the signing of a power of attorney signed by Mahrang. She also described a hostile environment during the visit, including threats and attempts to confiscate phones. The family believes these actions are part of a concerted effort to prevent them from accessing legal remedies. Concerns were also raised regarding the treatment of Mahrang Baloch and other members of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) within the jail, alleging harassment and pressure from state intelligence agencies. The family has denied accusations made against Mahrang Baloch and stated that she plans to file a defamation suit. The situation has heightened tensions concerning the detention of BYC leaders under the MPO law. A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, challenging the legality of these detentions and demanding the immediate release of Mahrang Baloch, Bebarg Baloch, and Mama Ghaffar Baloch, arguing that their arrests are unconstitutional and politically motivated.
