The earthquake in Kunar province, Afghanistan, has had a devastating impact, destroying numerous villages and, crucially, schools. The seismic event has caused extensive damage, leaving a substantial number of children without access to education. Provincial education officials have confirmed the tragic loss of life and widespread injuries among students and teachers.
Educational directorate reported that a total of 391 students lost their lives, while 760 were injured. More than 157,074 students are now unable to attend classes because of the destruction of schools.
