The publication of the Doing Business Report has been prevented due to disturbances in the data given to the World Bank, because the data sent by China, Azerbaijan, UAE and Saudi Arabia has been found to be flawed. According to a Wall Street Journal report, the Chief Economist of the World Bank took up the matter two years ago that there may be data manipulation from some countries. In 2019, there was a possibility of disturbances after China’s Doing Business Report ranking reached 46th to 31st in the ranking of Doing Business Report.
The World Bank has said that in previous reports there have been errors of data. It has since been decided not to publish the report. The World Bank has said that several irregularities in data changes have been detected in the Doing Business Report 2018 and 2019. These reports were published in 2017 and 2019. The World Bank has said that the figures are not matching with the method adopted for publishing the Doing Business Report.
The World Bank has said that executive directors have been informed about this. The countries which have been affected the most by the irregularity of data have also been told about it. We are taking stock of the situation, so it has been decided to stop publishing the Doing Business Report for the time being. The World Bank says that it is also making a way to check the data of the last five doing business report.
