Black marketing of masks, sanitizers and corona virus drugs is on the rise amid the increasing outbreak of Coronavirus. In Maharashtra, it has now become mandatory to show the Aadhaar Card to buy two medicines of Coronavirus. In order to buy Remdesivir Remadecivir and Tocilzumab tocilizumab medicines, the patient’s relatives now have to show the Aadhaar Card, doctor’s prescription and corona positive report.
Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh held a meeting with FDA officials and Mumbai police over the shortage of Remdesivir and Tocilzumab drugs. He said that strict action will be taken against those who market these drugs. Food and Drug Administration Minister Rajendra Singh suddenly conducted inspections at several places after complaining of shortage of these medicines.
The Food and Drug Department of Maharashtra has issued a circular on Friday making it mandatory to show Aadhaar card, doctor’s prescription and Kovid-19 positive report at the time of purchase of these two medicines. Remedacivir and tociluzumab will only be used after approval for treatment of corona in BMC hospitals.
BMC’s Additional Municipal Commissioner Suresh Kakani confirmed the imperative of Aadhaar card for these two medicines. He said that their use in BMC hospitals would have to be approved by the Head of Department. Record of their consumption will be kept. A doctor said that we have to give these injections for relief in case of trouble of the patient.
Cabinet Minister Aslam Sheikh said that this step has been taken to stop the black marketing of these life saving drugs and guidelines have been issued in this regard for medical stores. Only after showing the Aadhaar card can this medicine be purchased now.
