WhatsApp is rolling out new features to improve user interaction. The latest addition is the Wave Emoji, which aims to make starting new conversations easier. This feature is designed to function as a friendly greeting.
The Wave Emoji is essentially a waving hand emoji, usable as a ‘Hello’ or ‘Hi’ in chats. It’s perfect for users who find it awkward to initiate conversations with new contacts. WABetaInfo highlighted this feature on X, showing the emoji in WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.21.24. The emoji appears at the bottom of chats with new contacts, and it’s intended for individual chats, not group conversations.
WhatsApp is also integrating this feature in voice chats, introducing a ‘Wave All’ option. This allows users to notify all group members to join the voice chat, simplifying the process of bringing people together for discussions.
The Wave Emoji is currently available for WhatsApp beta users, with plans to make it accessible to all users after the beta testing phase.
