Users of Truecaller on iPhones will lose the call recording feature starting September 30th. This decision marks a significant change for those who rely on the app’s recording capabilities. Truecaller, known for its caller ID and spam blocking features, is shifting its focus. Nakul Kabra, the iOS head at Truecaller, explained that the move allows the company to prioritize features like live caller ID and automatic spam call blocking, as per a discussion with TechCrunch. The call recording feature, introduced in June 2023, was initially available for paying iPhone users before being rolled out to Android users. Apple’s iOS platform generally restricts third-party apps from recording calls natively. Truecaller users have received notifications urging them to download their call recordings before the end of September. After the deadline, all recorded data will be removed. Instructions on how to save recordings on iPhones are provided within the app, guiding users to adjust storage preferences to iCloud.
