Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, presented Donald Trump with a unique gift: a glass piece with a 24-karat gold base. The glass, bearing Trump’s name and the Apple logo, was given before Cook announced Apple’s additional investment of $100 billion in US manufacturing. The glass was designed by an American Marine Corps corporal employed by Apple. Cook stated the glass was made with materials from Corning, and the gold base came from Utah. In addition to the gift, Cook revealed Apple’s plans to significantly expand its US operations, including sourcing rare earth magnets from US manufacturers. Apple’s total investment in the US will reach $600 billion over the next four years.
