Users of Snapchat will now face charges for exceeding 5GB of storage in their Memories section. This global update impacts users with large archives of photos and videos saved since Memories launched in 2016. In India, users can opt for a plan at INR 99 per month, which includes 1TB of storage. The base subscription in other markets starts at $1.99 per month for 100GB of storage, while the Snapchat+ plan provides 250GB for $3.99 per month. Users surpassing the 5GB threshold will have a year to either subscribe or download their stored content. The company states the transition to a paid model is crucial for ongoing feature enhancements and development.
