Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge has made waves in the smartphone arena by showcasing cutting-edge technology and a focus on thinness. Its elegant design, with a chassis just 5.84mm thick, incorporates high-end specifications and advanced camera technology. However, Apple aims to challenge this with the upcoming iPhone 17 Air, which might be even thinner, potentially around 5.5mm based on early reports.
The Galaxy S25 Edge presents a selection of top-tier features from the S25 range in a compact design. It features a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED 2X display, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. The camera setup includes a 200MP wide-angle lens, 1/1.56” sensor with PDAF and OIS, and a 12MP ultrawide front camera. It is powered by a 3900mAh battery and supports 25W wired charging.
The iPhone 17 Air, although not yet officially revealed, is expected to come with a 6.7-inch OLED screen with HDR support. It’s likely to be powered by an A19 (3nm) chipset with a hexa-core architecture and an Apple GPU. The device will run on iOS 19. Storage options are anticipated to include 128GB with 12GB RAM, 256GB with 12GB RAM, and 512GB with 12GB RAM. Apple is expected to use a single-camera system with a 48MP sensor, dual-tone LED flash, and HDR support. The front-facing camera is anticipated to be a 12MP sensor with an f/1.9, 23mm wide lens. With the expected 5.5mm thickness of the iPhone 17 Air, there’s speculation regarding the battery size, possibly smaller than the 3900mAh battery of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. There are also indications that Apple might offer a special case to extend battery life.
