The Chinese smartphone brand OnePlus has declared the impending launch of the OnePlus 15, as revealed during the Snapdragon Summit. The OnePlus 15 will distinguish itself as the inaugural phone to incorporate Qualcomm’s cutting-edge flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The initial release is slated for the home market, followed by expansion into global markets, including India. This report examines the leaked information and speculated launch timeline for India.
Although the official launch date for India remains unconfirmed, industry forecasts suggest an October 2025 release in China. For the Indian market, the launch is tentatively scheduled for January 2026, aligning with the previous January release of the OnePlus 14.
Pre-release design leaks have surfaced, showcasing a reimagined rear panel. The leaks indicate a shift from the familiar circular camera module to a rectangular camera island positioned on the upper right side of the phone’s rear. This design choice could echo the aesthetics of the recently released OnePlus 13s.
The Snapdragon Summit provided confirmation that the OnePlus 15 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. Further leaked specifications hint at a 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED flat display with a 165Hz refresh rate, 1.5K resolution, and slim 1.15mm bezels, coupled with curved edges. Running on Android 16 with OxygenOS 16, the phone is expected to receive 5 years of OS updates and 6 years of security patches. Additionally, rumors suggest a substantial 7,300mAh silicon-carbon battery with support for 50W wireless and 100W wired charging. The camera setup might include a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP telephoto sensor providing 3x optical zoom capabilities.
