In an effort to combat mobile phone-related fraud, the Department of Telecommunications has proposed revisions to its cybersecurity framework. The proposed changes, outlined in a June 24th draft, include the potential implementation of a new platform for mobile number verification. This platform would involve all entities holding licenses for customer verification.
The DoT’s proposal for the MNV platform aims to assist authorized entities and licensees in confirming the presence of a user’s or company’s phone number within the database. The draft also identifies entities that use numbers or transactions for user verification, referred to as TIUEs (Telecommunication Identifier User Entities).
