A British gamer’s online gaming session turned into a nightmare as he watched his friend’s murder unfold live on a stream. The incident occurred over 1,000 miles away. He promptly alerted the police.
According to investigative reports, the victim, a 32-year-old Finnish woman, had been playing games with her UK-based friend for nearly ten hours when the gamer heard a window break at her residence in Puumala. He inquired about the security of her doors, but soon after, he heard a stranger speaking to her in Finnish. Unable to help directly, the British gamer emailed the local police around 5 a.m. The woman was found dead in her living room later that day.
The attacker, after the stabbing, allegedly drove about 30 miles to Juva, where he set fire to a barn. Witnesses said they saw him emerge from the flames before collapsing. He was taken to a hospital but ultimately died from his injuries.
Police investigations confirmed that the man was not previously known to them and had no apparent relationship with the victim. They believe he chose her home at random.
Criminal Inspector Marfa Raipeal, the lead investigator, clarified that the incident was not treated as an act of terrorism. With the assailant’s death, the investigation has been closed.
