Reliance Jio has discontinued a data plan, which offered 1.5 GB of data per day, potentially affecting users. The plan, priced at Rs 799, provided 1.5 GB of daily data for 84 days and has now been withdrawn. Current subscribers will now need to upgrade to the Rs 889 plan, which also offers 1.5 GB of data per day for 84 days. For those seeking a similar entry-level option, the Rs 239 plan, providing 1.5 GB per day for 22 days, remains available. The Rs 799 plan was still accessible on PhonePe as of Wednesday evening, despite Jio’s earlier decision to remove entry-level plans providing 1 GB of daily data for Rs 209 (22 days) and Rs 249 (28 days). These discontinued plans can only be recharged at physical retail locations, as online recharges are no longer permitted, pushing the industry’s baseline plan to Rs 299. Jio clarified that the 1.5 GB/day for 84 days plan remains available on major payment platforms like PhonePe, Google Pay, and Paytm, as well as on their own website. They emphasize their dedication to offering a range of affordable and convenient recharge options. The Rs 799 plan includes 84-day validity, free national roaming, and unlimited calling throughout India. It also offers 1.5GB of high-speed data per day and 100 free daily SMS. Subscribers can also access Jio TV and Jio AI Cloud. Additionally, Jio provides another cost-effective 84-day plan with an OTT app subscription. Airtel has similarly ended its budget-friendly mobile data plan offering 1GB of data per day, which is no longer accessible on its website, prompting those needing 1GB daily data to choose the Rs 299 plan instead.
