The iPhone 17 Series and iPhone Air were unveiled during a recent Apple event, generating anticipation among consumers. Pre-orders for the new iPhones commenced on September 12th, with initial deliveries scheduled to begin on September 19th. However, customers in India are now experiencing delays, with delivery times extended beyond the original estimates.
Retailers in India are grappling with stock shortages of the iPhone 17 Series and iPhone Air. Market analysts suggest the expansion of Apple’s retail network is contributing to the supply constraints, particularly impacting the availability of iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models in individual stores.
Apple’s official website reflects these delays. For example, customers pre-ordering the iPhone 17 with 256GB of storage today, September 15th, can expect delivery between September 27th and October 5th. Similarly, the iPhone 17 Pro with 512GB storage also shows the same delivery timeframe.
Pre-ordering the iPhone 17 Pro Max with 2TB storage currently indicates a delivery window between October 5th and October 11th. The iPhone 17 Air’s base model (Gold Rose) delivery is also estimated between September 27th and October 5th if ordered today. It is important to note that delivery dates may vary based on the chosen storage capacity and color.
Production of the new iPhone series in India is currently concentrated on the base models. Increased production of the Pro and Pro Max iPhone models is scheduled to commence a few weeks later.
A typical shipment of approximately 500 units consists of around 50 units of the Pro and approximately 10 units of the Pro Max models. The 512GB and 1TB variants are also seeing constrained supply.
