The iPhone 17 Air has been launched, marking the first time Apple has released an ‘Air’ variant, replacing the previous Plus model. This new iPhone is exceptionally thin, with a thickness of only 5.6mm, according to Apple. The device supports eSIM only and introduces the N1 networking chip and the second-generation C1X modem, both firsts for an iPhone. The N1 chip enhances connectivity with support for Bluetooth 6, Wi-Fi 7, and Thread protocol, and the C1X modem provides improved performance and connectivity. The Indian market price for the iPhone 17 Air begins at Rs 119,900, available in four different colors. This pricing is higher than the base iPhone 16 Plus, which was launched last year at Rs 99,999. Pre-booking starts on September 12, with sales commencing on September 19. The iPhone 17 Air is equipped with a 6.5-inch display featuring 120Hz ProMotion and a peak brightness of 3000 nits. Ceramic Shield protects both the front and back of the phone. The A19 Pro Bionic chipset powers the Air variant, offering enhanced speed and multitasking capabilities, and is touted by Apple as the fastest in any smartphone. It features a single 48-megapixel rear camera sensor. Despite being a single-sensor camera, Apple states it excels at 2x telephoto photos at 12 megapixels.
