Windows 11 users are set to receive a wave of new AI features via Copilot, Microsoft’s AI assistant. A notable addition is Copilot Vision, which enables the analysis of content on the user’s screen. This functionality extends to multiple applications and web pages, enabling users to query Copilot about the content displayed. Furthermore, Copilot can execute PC tasks such as improving the lighting in images. The new features are being rolled out incrementally. Some features will be exclusive to Copilot Plus PCs. A recent study showed that the utilization of generative AI is widespread, with many users employing it for professional and personal endeavors. Microsoft’s goal is to enhance the user experience by integrating intuitive AI-powered tools into Windows. The Settings app on Snapdragon-powered Copilot Plus PCs will provide access to the AI agent.
A significant feature, the “Click to Do” preview, is being made available to Copilot Plus PC users. This allows users to perform actions like text summarization and improve reading fluency by holding the Windows key and left-clicking on items like apps, websites, or text. Also coming are an AI-driven sticker generator for Paint, an object selection tool for image editing, an AI-enhanced lighting option in Photos, and a screen capture tool that leverages AI for more precise capturing. The rollout is set to commence in August, accompanied by other updates like a color picker for the Snipping Tool and a system to automatically resolve issues leading to unexpected reboots.
