In a move to compete with private telecom giants like Jio, Vi, and Airtel, BSNL has rolled out the ‘Azadi ka Plan’ ahead of Independence Day. The plan, priced at a mere Rs. 1, includes data, calling, SMS, and a free SIM card, making it an attractive option for those looking to try BSNL’s services.
The company promoted the plan on X, highlighting the offer as a way to achieve true digital freedom. The Rs. 1 plan offers daily benefits, including 2GB of high-speed data, unlimited voice calls, and 100 SMS messages. The validity of this plan is 30 days; however, the offer is only valid from August 1st to August 31st. This limited-time offer means customers must act fast to enjoy the benefits.
Customers interested in this offer can visit their nearest BSNL customer service center or a BSNL retailer to subscribe. The offer is available throughout August, coinciding with the Independence Day celebrations. While Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea have yet to respond with similar offers, there’s a possibility that these major private players may introduce competitive plans in the near future.
BSNL’s wireless subscriber base decreased by 305,766 users by June 30, 2025, as per TRAI data, resulting in a total user base of 90,464,244, including 29,822,407 rural subscribers.
