Apple is preparing to make its mark in the foldable segment, with the highly anticipated launch of its first foldable iPhone drawing closer. Constant leaks have provided glimpses of the foldable iPhone, building excitement among consumers. Now, key information about the launch timeline, pricing, and potential features has surfaced.
Insights from a recent investor note by JP Morgan analyst Samik Chatterjee, accessed by CNBC, reveal that the foldable iPhone is slated for launch in September 2026, coinciding with the iPhone 18 Series, and not with the iPhone 17 series. Several reports, including those from industry supply chain sources, support the September 2026 launch timeframe.
The potential specifications of the foldable iPhone suggest a 7.8-inch inner display and a 5.5-inch outer display. The device is also expected to offer a crease-free inner panel, providing users with an uninterrupted visual experience when unfolded.
Analysts estimate the foldable smartphone to be priced at $1,999 (approximately ₹1.74 lakh). This could contribute to $65 billion in revenue for Apple. Earlier leaks indicated that the base variant could be priced at $2,300 (approximately ₹1.99 lakh). Furthermore, the initial release is expected to be limited. When folded, the phone will be 9.2mm thick, and 4.6mm when unfolded.
