The Department of Telecommunications has taken action by disconnecting more than 8.2 million mobile connections. These connections were flagged because they were associated with a single person but registered under different names, failing the re-verification conducted by ASTR. The Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, Dr. Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, confirmed this in a written response to the Rajya Sabha.
