The ICC met on Monday regarding the T20 World Cup to be held this year , in which the said decision was taken. The ICC has not allowed spectators to visit the stadium due to the Corona epidemic and does not want the T20 World Cup match to take place in an empty stadium. That is why it has decided to postpone the T20 World Cup until 2021.
On the other hand, due to the worldwide infection of coronavirus, there was already a cloud of danger on the T20 World Cup. Australia itself was reluctant to host it because it is not going to benefit financially from the absence of spectators at the stadium. The two Tests of the three-Test series between England and West Indies have been held without an audience, in which no one is interested.Cricket is considered a golden egg-laying hen and when it comes to the T20 World Cup, the matter becomes another. Australia itself did not want to have matches in the empty stadium. Now the trend of Australia is on the series to be held with India later this year, through which it can make a profit.
It is noteworthy that ICC will have 3 big events in the coming 3 years. There will be T20 World Cup in October and November of 2021 while T20 World Cup will be played in 2022 also. Apart from this, the ICC World Cup is to be held in October and November of 2023.
Paving way for IPL: Like other countries of the world, India is also suffering from coronavirus infection and the situation is getting worse. In the last 24 hours, there have been 40 thousand infection cases across the country. In such a situation, the BCCI is still holding the hopes of IPL.
If the corona situation improves in the country, then the world’s most popular league IPL can be held between 26 September to 8 November. The biggest question here will be whether IPL will also be without audience? The governing body of the IPL has not decided on this.
