Yograj Singh, the father of former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, has once again stirred controversy with strong words about his son’s former teammates and the dynamics within the team. Singh, known for his outspoken views, has previously targeted prominent figures like MS Dhoni. This time, his criticism is directed at Virat Kohli and the relationships within the team.
In a recent interview, Yograj Singh discussed the friendships of his son, Yuvraj, suggesting that his talent intimidated others. He went on to accuse Kohli, Dhoni, and other players of betraying Yuvraj, using the term “backstabbers” to describe their behavior.
When asked about Virat Kohli’s role as captain and whether he could have done more for Yuvraj, Yograj expressed skepticism. He highlighted that after Kohli took over the captaincy in 2017, Yuvraj received limited opportunities and was eventually dropped from the team shortly after the Champions Trophy. This occurred despite the perception of a close friendship between Yuvraj and Kohli.
Yograj asserted that true friendship is rare in the world of professional sports, where success and personal gain often overshadow relationships. He recalled telling Yuvraj that genuine friends are scarce in such an environment. He pointed out Sachin Tendulkar as Yuvraj’s only true friend in the team.
According to Yograj, Sachin Tendulkar was the only person who genuinely supported Yuvraj and wanted to see him succeed. Yograj suggested that Yuvraj’s talent made others fearful of him, as they were worried about being overshadowed. He claimed that Dhoni and other players were intimidated by Yuvraj’s abilities.
Yograj Singh’s remarks have sparked discussions about the nature of friendships in professional sports and the pressures faced by players, especially when vying for success and recognition.
