Exciting developments in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025! Following South Africa’s victory over Pakistan, the official venues for the first semifinal and the championship final have now been confirmed. Pakistan’s loss means they are out of contention for the knockout stages, concluding their tournament journey without a single victory after six attempts.
The pivotal match, held at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, saw the South African team emerge victorious over Pakistan. Despite a rain-interrupted encounter that limited play, South Africa showcased exceptional batting prowess. They amassed a formidable 312/9 within 40 overs, with key contributions from Laura Wolvaardt, Sune Luus, and Marizanne Kapp, who all scored half-centuries. Nadine de Klerk also played a crucial cameo, smashing 41 runs from just 16 deliveries.
After the South African innings, rain continued to affect the game. However, the Proteas managed to complete the necessary overs to ensure a result. Utilizing the DLS method, they secured a comprehensive 150-run victory. This result officially seals Pakistan’s fate, confirming their elimination from the Women’s World Cup 2025 semifinals.
The confirmed venues are as follows: the first semifinal will take place at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, while the final match will be played at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. The second semifinal was previously confirmed to be held at the Navi Mumbai venue as well.
An interesting detail was that Colombo was initially slated to host both semifinals and the final if Pakistan had advanced. This was based on a long-standing agreement for neutral venues for matches involving India and Pakistan in major ICC events.
