The root of the dispute lies in the events following the final match at the Dubai International Stadium. India won the Asia Cup title with a stellar performance, but the Indian players refused to accept the trophy and medals from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Mohsin Naqvi. Consequently, Naqvi took the trophy himself, leaving Team India to celebrate without it. This incident surprised the cricketing world and heightened tensions between the two countries. The ACC meeting, chaired by Mohsin Naqvi, saw the virtual participation of Rajiv Shukla and Ashish Shelar from the BCCI. Discussions on the trophy dispute, along with other agenda items such as the election of the vice-president and finalizing the schedules of emerging players and under-19 tournaments, were not concluded. The ACC has instructed the BCCI, PCB, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), and Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) to hold a formal offline meeting to resolve the trophy dispute as soon as possible.
