Nepal and Oman are set to compete in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after successfully navigating the rigorous Asia/East Asia Pacific (Asia-EAP) Qualifier. The tournament, hosted in Al Amerat, Oman, saw these two cricketing nations emerge victorious through dominant campaigns.
The Nepalese team, captained by Rohit Paudel, maintained an unbroken streak through the initial stages and the Super Six phase. Their journey was solidified by a heart-stopping one-run triumph over the UAE, a testament to their resilience under pressure. Talented batter Aasif Sheikh and skilled spinner Sandeep Lamichhane played pivotal roles in Nepal’s qualification for their second T20 World Cup in a row, and their third overall.
Oman, with the home advantage, exhibited a well-rounded performance, combining strong batting and bowling with sharp tactics. Led by Zeeshan Maqsood, the team secured decisive wins and a healthy Net Run Rate to secure their place among the top qualifiers. This achievement signifies Oman’s third appearance at the T20 World Cup, following their participation in 2016 and 2024.
These qualifications bring the total number of confirmed teams for the 20-nation T20 World Cup 2026 to 19. The prestigious event will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, showcasing a blend of established cricketing powers and emerging nations.
