Afghanistan’s Sharafuddin Ashraf has been lauded as a savior for his efforts to assist approximately 300 people impacted by severe flooding in the country. The floods, which ravaged the nation last year, resulted in widespread displacement and food shortages. Ashraf, known for his all-round cricketing abilities, took the initiative to provide vital support to those affected by the disaster.
Ashraf, currently included in the Afghanistan team for the 2025 Asia Cup, displayed his prowess in a recent T20 match against the UAE, earning the Player of the Match award. His on-field performance is complemented by his off-field generosity. When the floods struck, Ashraf was deeply moved by the plight of his fellow Afghans and sprang into action.
Witnessing the devastation, Ashraf reached out to Rashid Khan, initiating a coordinated effort to provide aid. He, along with fellow cricketers, organized lunch and dinner for around 300 individuals who were facing extreme hardship. This compassionate response underscores his commitment to helping those in need.
Since his international debut in 2014, Ashraf has played 40 matches for Afghanistan. His actions have earned him admiration and respect from both within and outside the cricketing world, highlighting his role as a sportsman and humanitarian.
