The Buchi Babu tournament 2025 is underway, organized by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association from August 18th to September 9th. The tournament features 16 teams competing in a group format. In the match between TNCA XI and Mumbai at the Guru Nanak College B Ground, Sarfaraz Khan, a prominent Indian batsman, scored a magnificent century, becoming the highlight of the opening day.
Batting at number five, Sarfaraz Khan delivered a powerful performance after Mumbai had lost three wickets, with the score at 98 runs. Khan took control of the innings, smashing a rapid century. He reached the milestone of 100 runs in just 92 balls, which included nine boundaries and three sixes. This innings holds special importance for Sarfaraz Khan, especially after his exclusion from the Indian Test squad for the England tour.
Recent discussions have also revolved around Sarfaraz Khan’s fitness. Following his non-selection for Team India, he dedicated himself to improving his fitness. He surprised many by shedding nearly 17 kilograms in just one and a half months. This match is his first after the weight loss, and he has successfully made his presence felt in the game. Khan’s focus is now on earning a place in the home Test series against the West Indies.
Sarfaraz Khan’s younger brother, Musheer Khan, is also playing for Mumbai in this tournament. However, he did not make a significant impact in the opening innings. Musheer Khan managed to score only 30 runs from 75 balls in this match’s first innings. Though he started well, he was unable to convert his start into a larger score.
