Sanju Samson, the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman, is celebrated for his aggressive batting style and his outstanding fielding abilities. From the IPL to international cricket, his fielding skills have consistently impressed. Samson’s commitment to exceptional fielding extends to domestic tournaments and smaller leagues. This was highlighted in a recent Kerala Cricket League match where his agility led to a crucial wicket for his team. Notably, Sanju’s brother, Sali Samson, made a significant contribution to this success.
The Samson brothers, Sanju and Sali, were playing for Kochi Blue Tigers in the Kerala Cricket League. The match between Adani Trivandrum Royals and Kochi took place on August 21st. Trivandrum, batting first, encountered an early setback. Their innings began with an early dismissal, as opener Subin S was out without scoring. This was a result of the Samsons’ combined effort, showcasing their precision and speed.
In the match, Sali Samson bowled the first over for Kochi. His first ball was perfectly placed on the stumps’ line. The batsman managed to play the ball to mid-off but attempted a run. This proved to be a costly decision, as Sanju quickly collected the ball and threw it towards the non-striker’s end. Sali quickly moved towards the stumps. Sanju’s throw was accurate, and his brother, without any error, caught the ball, resulting in a run-out.
The remarkable partnership between Sanju and Sali played a crucial role in restricting Trivandrum to a score of just 97 runs. Sali further demonstrated his fielding skills with a stunning catch, diving backwards to secure the ball. Kochi won the match with ease, securing an 8-wicket victory in 12 overs. Sali, the team’s captain, played a pivotal role in the win, scoring an unbeaten 50 off just 30 balls, while Sanju did not bat.
