India has discovered a new talent in the realm of javelin throwing: Sachin Yadav. He showcased an impressive performance at the World Athletics Championships 2025 in Tokyo. Although the focus was mainly on the anticipated contest between Neeraj Chopra of India and Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan, Yadav made his mark. Although he didn’t secure a podium finish, he secured fourth place, ahead of Neeraj Chopra. The 25-year-old athlete achieved a personal best with a throw of 86.27m on his initial attempt. Hailing from Khekra, Uttar Pradesh, and born on October 25, 1999, Yadav originally aimed to be a fast bowler, pursuing cricket. However, at 19, he transitioned to javelin throw. His height of 6 feet 5 inches offers him an advantage in the sport. He looks up to Jasprit Bumrah and MS Dhoni for inspiration. Yadav earned a silver medal at the Asian Championships and a gold at the 38th National Games in Dehradun with a record throw of 84.39m. He also participated in the Neeraj Chopra Classic, securing fourth place with a throw of 82.33m. Neeraj Chopra, finishing in eighth place, later expressed his admiration for Yadav’s performance and his confidence in the future of Indian javelin.
