Prithvi Shaw, the Mumbai opening batsman, has formally communicated his desire to leave the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and play for another team in domestic cricket, classifying himself as a ‘professional’ player. He has requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the MCA to enable this transition.
An MCA source confirmed that they are considering his request for an NOC. This decision follows a period of difficulties for Shaw with Mumbai, concerning both his physical fitness and his form on the field. The MCA’s senior selection panel had previously urged Shaw to complete a fitness program. Despite this, his fitness did not improve, leading to his exclusion from the Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy squads. Shaw’s departure would be a major development in his domestic career, especially considering his past success leading India’s U19 team and his status as a promising Mumbai cricket player.
