Eyes will be on top-10 place in qualification
Indian third-rowers will want to perform well today and make it to the top 10 through the qualification round. Led by experienced Tarundeep Rai and Deepika Kumari, the Indian team will try to get a favourite draw. A total of 128 players from 53 countries are participating in the qualification round, each archer will shoot 72 arrows. Based on the total score, seeding will be given for the main knockout competition starting on Sunday.
Indian archers’ poor performance in Olympic history
Archery was included in the Olympics for the first time in 1988. Since then, India has fielded its archers every time, but the performance has been poor. Therefore, today’s qualification round is very important for Team India. Till now, Team India has always been ranked lower, so it has to face a strong team like South Korea in the knockout stage. If Team India gets a good ranking, then its journey ahead will become easier.
