Following India’s spectacular victory in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, fans across the nation are eager to celebrate their heroes with a grand parade. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has clarified that no official victory parade has been confirmed at this time.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia explained that decisions regarding celebrations will be made upon the return of senior officials from their trip to Dubai for the International Cricket Council (ICC) meetings. These meetings are scheduled from November 4th to 7th, and the BCCI delegation will discuss future plans for felicitating the champion team once they are back in India.
During their stay in Dubai, the BCCI also intends to raise a significant issue: the whereabouts of the Asia Cup trophy. They plan to inquire about the trophy that has not yet been presented to the Indian team.
The historic final took place on November 2nd at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. India emerged victorious by 52 runs against South Africa, clinching their first-ever Women’s World Cup title. The Indian team set a challenging target of 298 for 7, with an outstanding innings from Shafali Verma (87), who replaced an injured player. Deepti Sharma (52) and Richa Ghosh (34 off 24 balls) also provided vital runs.
South Africa’s captain Laura Wolvaardt played a stellar century, but India’s bowlers, led by Deepti Sharma’s impressive 5 for 39 and crucial wickets from Shafali Verma, managed to restrict the opposition and secure the historic win. While official celebrations are pending, the nation is already celebrating this landmark achievement in women’s cricket.
