Following a disappointing period with Uttar Pradesh, Nitish Rana is set to return to his home state, Delhi, for the forthcoming domestic cricket season. The batsman has received an NOC from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA), facilitating his move.
Ankit Chatterjee, UPCA’s CEO, confirmed the NOC, mentioning that Rana cited family reasons for his decision. The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), through secretary Ashok Sharma, has acknowledged Rana’s intention to return but awaits formal documentation.
Rana’s career started in Delhi, where he developed through the ranks. He switched to Uttar Pradesh in 2023, even captaining the team. However, his performance in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy saw him score only 150 runs in four matches. His T20 and List A performances were also weak, leading to him being dropped from the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Rana hopes to rejuvenate his career with a return to Delhi.
