The upcoming Indian Premier League season is still a while away, but the auction is on the horizon. Domestic cricketers are eager to prove their mettle, and many are using their state’s T20 leagues as platforms to showcase their skills. In the Maharaja T20 Trophy, a 23-year-old player’s batting performance set the field ablaze. Opening batsman Lochan Gowda displayed explosive batting, scoring 32 runs in a single over with a series of sixes.
The match between Shivamogga Lions and Mangalore Dragons took place on Friday, August 22, in Mysore. The Dragons batted first, scoring a significant 200 runs in their 20 overs. Lochan, the 23-year-old opener, was instrumental in building the score and emerged as the top scorer for the team. He played a blistering innings of 63 runs from just 32 balls.
The highlight of Lochan’s innings arrived in the 11th over when he unleashed an onslaught against Lions’ bowler D. Ashok. He started the over with a six and followed it up with four more consecutive sixes, sending the ball beyond the boundary. He managed to get only two runs on the fifth ball and ended the over with another six. Consequently, Lochan scored 32 runs in this over, including five sixes. A notable statistic is that Lochan scored 63 runs overall, with 32 of those runs (more than half) coming in a single over. He hit 5 sixes and 2 fours in his innings.
Following this performance, Shivamogga Lions’ opener Tushar Singh produced an equally explosive batting display.
