Irfan Pathan has praised Arshdeep Singh, one of India’s top T20I wicket-takers, for his development into a leading white-ball bowler. Pathan also singled out Khaleel Ahmed as the next top left-arm fast bowler, referencing his impressive performances for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during the previous IPL season. Arshdeep has been integral to India’s T20 team for the past two years, notably contributing to the 2024 T20 World Cup victory and is close to achieving 100 wickets in T20Is. During a discussion on Revsportz, Pathan emphasized the essential qualities of a left-arm pacer – consistent speeds of 135-140 kmph, the ability to swing the ball, and effective bouncers – and argued that Khaleel meets these criteria. Pathan considers Khaleel a complete package, having improved his pace, seam position, slow bouncers, and fitness. Khaleel last played for India in a T20I against Sri Lanka, but since then, he has significantly improved, becoming CSK’s main wicket-taker, especially in the powerplay overs, in the previous IPL season. Pathan believes Khaleel, now 27, is in top form and can perform under pressure. Despite Pathan’s support, Khaleel was not included in India’s squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025.
