The fourth Test between India and England concluded in a draw after a captivating contest. India fought back valiantly to prevent defeat. England leads the series 2-1, but India still has a chance to tie things up in the final test. Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar played key roles, remaining not out. India struggled early in their second innings with early wickets, but KL Rahul (90) and Shubman Gill (103) combined to get India back in the game. The England bowlers were put under pressure as the Indian batters displayed great resolve and determination.
Washington Sundar’s maiden century (101) and Ravindra Jadeja’s (107) also played vital role in the draw.
India’s first innings saw them setting a target of 358, with key contributions from Yashasvi Jaiswal (58), KL Rahul (46), Sai Sudharsan (61), Rishabh Pant (54), and Shardul Thakur (41). The first day had an unfortunate event when Rishabh Pant was injured and was diagnosed with a toe fracture, but he defied all odds by batting again and scoring a half-century.
England, however, put up a massive 669 runs, gaining a lead of 311 runs. Despite England’s powerful batting performance, India’s young team fought hard, especially with KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja leading the way. The series now moves to the fifth Test on July 31 at The Oval, with India still in contention to win the series.
