Ishan Kishan, the Indian wicket-keeper batsman, is currently participating in the County Championship in England. Playing for Nottinghamshire, Kishan made a notable impact in his first innings, scoring 87 runs against Yorkshire. This innings came off 98 balls and included 12 boundaries and a six. Kishan has joined the County Championship for the first time, with a contract for two matches.
He entered the crease with Nottinghamshire at 225/4, eventually helping the team reach 283/6. He then built a significant 71-run partnership with Liam Patterson-White, pushing Nottinghamshire beyond the 350-run mark. Kishan was on track to reach a century, but was dismissed at 87, caught by George Hill off the bowling of Dom Bess.
Kishan was excluded from the Indian Test squad in December 2023. He is striving to regain his place in the Test team but faces stiff competition. He has played two Test matches previously, accumulating 78 runs. In first-class cricket, he has appeared in 58 matches, scoring 3447 runs at an average of 37.87, with eight centuries and 17 half-centuries.
Kishan is also not part of India’s ODI and T20 squads. Other Indian players in the County Championship include Rituraj Gaikwad, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Tilak Verma, with Tilak representing Hampshire in the current round.
