The upcoming match in Ahmedabad will be India’s first home Test in 15 years without the legendary trio of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin. In all the home Test matches played in the past 15 years, at least one of these three stalwarts has been a part of the team. With Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin having retired from Test cricket, the Indian team will take the field without them for the first time in many years. The last time this happened was in November 2010 when India played a Test match against New Zealand in Nagpur, and none of these three were in the playing XI. Since then, at least one of them has been a part of every match played on Indian soil. However, this streak is now ending. Rohit and Kohli have retired from T20 Internationals and Tests, while Ashwin has retired from all formats of Indian cricket.
