Oman’s cricket team, preparing for their debut in the Asia Cup 2025, will be without the services of fast bowler Imran Sultan. Despite his selection, Sultan was denied a visa to enter the UAE, the host nation for the tournament. The reason cited for the denial is reportedly his birthplace in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Sultan, who has a bowling action reminiscent of Shoaib Akhtar, was considered a key player for Oman. He has represented Oman in two T20I matches, where he took four wickets, and one ODI. His ambition to play cricket led him to leave his home. He subsequently participated in Under-19 team trials in Karachi, where he displayed exceptional talent, taking 21 wickets in six matches. His bowling speed reached 143 kilometers per hour.
An Omani cricket franchise noticed his talent after a video of his bowling went viral, leading to his selection in their league. He earned a spot in the Omani squad for the Asia Cup. Now, he will not be able to play, and Oman’s match against Pakistan will proceed without him. The team is captained by Jatinder Singh.
