In a surprising move, the ICC has suspended the USA Cricket Board. This action comes after the USA team’s impressive victory against Pakistan in the 2024 T20I World Cup. The suspension, which was decided on September 23rd during a virtual board meeting, could result in major changes for cricket in the United States. The ICC has cited repeated breaches of its guidelines for the suspension. Although the board has been suspended, the USA team is still authorized to compete in the next T20I World Cup. The decision follows persistent complaints about the USA cricket board, which prompted the ICC to issue a notice last year during the annual conference held in Sri Lanka. Subsequently, a three-month period was granted in Singapore for the board to rectify its governance structure. However, the issues were not addressed, resulting in the recent suspension. The suspension will not affect the cricket tournament at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
