Bijender Goel, Chairman of the Pythian Council of India, revealed that Gatka will be part of the Pythian Cultural Games. International Gatka competitions are scheduled to take place in Moscow next year, with international teams participating. The announcement was made during the opening of the 12th National Gatka Championship held at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi. Goel affirmed support for the World Gatka Federation, Asian Gatka Federation, and National Gatka Association of India (NGAI) to expand this martial art’s global presence.
Shantanu Agrahari, President of the Pythian Council, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of the Pythian Games. Delhi MLA Jarnail Singh acknowledged Gatka’s potential, encouraging both boys and girls to learn the sport and self-defense techniques. Prizes were awarded to the winners. Key figures like Dr. Tejinderpal Singh Nalwa, Harjeet Singh Grewal, and Sukhchain Singh Kalsani highlighted the importance of Gatka’s inclusion in the Pythian Games, following its presence in other major sporting events.
