Star English spinner Sophie Ecclestone is taking a break from cricket due to a quad injury. The bowler, who debuted in a T20 match against Pakistan on July 3, 2016, has a record of 297 wickets in 177 matches across all formats. The break is aimed at allowing Ecclestone to fully recover.
Her coach, Charlotte Edwards, stated that the spinner is dealing with a quad injury. She had previously rested during the West Indies series due to a knee issue. Reports indicate that the spinner has been experiencing discomfort for several weeks. While the exact length of her absence remains unspecified, the team is offering full support. The focus is on Ecclestone’s fitness ahead of a potential return. The India-England series includes five T20s and three ODIs, with the first matches of the series beginning on June 28.
The T20 matches will take place in Nottingham, Bristol, The Oval, Manchester, and Birmingham on June 28, July 1, July 4, July 9, and July 12. The ODIs are scheduled for July 16, 19, and 22 in Southampton, Lord’s, and Chester-le-Street.
