The Indian cricket squad is preparing for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, scheduled to begin on September 9th in the UAE. India’s journey in the tournament will start on September 10th. A recent update has emerged concerning the team: players selected for the Asia Cup might be required to complete a fitness test in Dubai. The BCCI has implemented this test, focusing on the fitness levels of the players.
The BCCI has recently introduced the Bronco test to assess the fitness of Team India players. Adrian Le Roux, the team’s strength and conditioning coach, recommended the Bronco test alongside existing tests like the Yo-Yo test. Initially, several Indian team players were thought to be at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence for the Bronco test. However, reports indicate that the Bronco test wasn’t administered to the Indian cricket stars at the Centre of Excellence.
Reports suggest the Bronco test for the Asia Cup 2025 participants could be held in Dubai. The Indian team is set to travel to Dubai on September 4th and will have its initial session at the ICC Academy on September 5th, which is when the test may occur. The Bronco test involves a 20-meter shuttle run followed by 40-meter and 60-meter runs. These runs are grouped into a single set. Each player is expected to complete five sets (totalling 1200 meters) without breaks.
The Asia Cup 2025 will comprise 19 matches overall. India is scheduled to play its first match against the UAE on September 10th. This will be followed by a match against Pakistan on September 14th. India’s final group stage match will be against Oman on September 19th. The Super 4 stage will then commence, potentially featuring another India-Pakistan encounter.
