The North Delhi Strikers secured an 11-run victory against the West Delhi Lions in the 19th match of the Delhi Premier League Season 2 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The win was a result of a combined effort from the entire team.
Chasing a target of 166, the West Delhi Lions stumbled early on, losing two wickets quickly to Vikas Dixit and captain Harshit Rana, which resulted in a score of 13/2. Krish Yadav tried to steady the innings, scoring 23 runs from 23 balls, but the required run rate continued to increase. Hrithik Shokeen performed exceptionally well, making 51 runs from just 24 balls, which included five fours and three sixes. His performance was enhanced by a 49-run partnership in 19 balls to revive the chase. However, the Strikers gained momentum when Deepanshu Gulia bowled a game-changing spell, taking three crucial wickets in the middle overs. Harshit Rana then bowled a tight penultimate over, concluding the innings at 154/8 and ensuring victory.
Batting first, the North Delhi Strikers scored 165/9 in their 20 overs. Sarthak Ranjan contributed to a strong start with 42 runs off 33 balls, while Arjun Rapria energized the innings with a quick 40 off 22 balls, which included three fours and three sixes. Yajas Sharma (23 off 15) and Yash Bhatia (22 off 17) continued to add to the scorecard, although consistent wickets from the Lions’ bowlers prevented the Strikers from scoring higher.
Mayank Gusain was the standout bowler for West Delhi Lions, securing three wickets while giving away only 2 runs in his single over. Despite his efforts, the Lions could not capitalize on the pressure and win the match.
