Novak Djokovic advanced in the US Open 2025, opening his campaign for a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam singles title with a straight-sets victory over Learner Tien. The world No. 2 delivered a strong performance against the young American, winning 6-1, 7-6, 6-2. Although a medical timeout was needed to address a foot issue, Djokovic quickly regained his form and closed out the match. Djokovic’s dominance was evident from the start, as he overwhelmed Tien in the first set. Tien fought back in the second set, but Djokovic maintained his composure, ultimately winning the tiebreak. A medical timeout in between sets allowed Djokovic to receive treatment on his foot. Upon his return to the court, Djokovic quickly reasserted his control. Tien tried to mount a comeback, but Djokovic efficiently closed out the match. Djokovic will now face Zachary Svajda in the next round after showing flashes of his usual brilliance.
